Taiko Course in Edinburgh
Taiko drumming - "Wadaiko" - is an energetic, physical and
highly choreographed art form. Originally from Japan, with roots
going back hundreds of years and encompassing a variety of styles,
rhythms and movement, this traditional folk art is now developing
and spreading as a modern European art form.
Now is the chance for people here in Scotland to experience
a short course of this exciting discipline which is energetic &
fun & learnt alongside other taiko enthusiasts!
The Edinburgh course is on Mondays 6:30 - 8:00 pm for 3
weeks starting 15th July and ending 25th July 2019.
This course is designed to be suitable for both beginners
& improvers, and will take the participants step by step from
the stance, to the bachi drumstick grip through to learning a short
performance piece. Each week you will get a chance to play
different juichis, also known as "base rhythms" and learn a short
performance piece.
