About
Leonard Eto is the creator of the Katsugi-oke style of carrying the Okedo drum. Inspired by Korean Samul Nori drumming, Leonard adapted this style for Japanese instruments and first developed it for Kodo stage performances in the 1980s. It has since become one of the most popular taiko styles of many groups around the world.
The main theme of this workshop is "How to become one with the Oke taiko", with particular focus on footwork and body balance, taught by this pioneer of the Katsugi-oke style. The workshop will also cover how to hold the bachi and position, and how to stroke on the front side and the back side of the drum.
(There will also be an advanced Katsugi-oke workshop on Tuesday 18 November)
The workshop fee is £45, and can be booked by email: info@taiko.co.uk
