FOR TRADITIONAL MAP USERS, HERE ARE THE FULL DIRECTIONS:

From Glasgow

Take the M74 South. Take exit 8 signposted A71. At the end of the slip road, take a left, which takes you under the motorway. At the roundabout, take the first exit, which is signposted Blackwood. This is the B7078, and runs parallel to the motorway for a couple of miles, then passes over the motorway again taking you into the village of Blackwood / Kirkmuirhill.

After a few hundred metres, take a right at the junction signposted B7086 to Strathaven. Pass some shops and go straight across at the double mini-roundabout at the top of the hill, driving under the motorway.

Go straight on this road through the village of Boghead, for approximately 3 miles.

Look for a signpost marked Coalburn and Waterside on your left.

* Turn LEFT at signpost to Coalburn and Waterside.

Go through the hamlet of Deadwaters.

Follow the one track road - it bends left up a hill then right for a few metres.

Then go straight on past the sign marked dead end / no through road. Do not follow the road bending round to the left. TAKE THE DEAD END ROAD!

BE CAREFUL - DRIVE SLOWLY! Pass a big white farmhouse on the left (the milk-farm), go down a dip, and another white farmhouse on the left: the "Black Cat Cattery". Keep going - we're the next farmhouse beyond the cattery. At the end of the paved road, there is a rough track private road on the left. We're at the end of this road.

From Edinburgh

Take the M8 towards Glasgow. After junction 6, the M8 turns into the A8.

Look out for an exit sign-posted on the left for Bellshill, East Kilbride and Carlisle (A725).

Take this exit and move into the left lane, following signs for the A725 for East Kilbride and Carlisle.

Continue along this dual carriageway for several miles and down a steep hill, until you come to traffic lights at a big roundabout (at Strathclyde Country Park) at the bottom of the hill. Stay in the left lane.

Take the second exit off the roundabout, sign posted for M74 South to Carlisle.

Then follow directions as above, from the M74 South.

From East Kilbride

Take the A726 to Strathaven.

Carry on through the centre of Strathaven and take a turning on the left into Thomson Street, sign posted A71 to Carlisle (West Kirk Church on corner).

Turn left at the top of the road, then immediately right into Station Road.

The road bends left, then takes a sharp right turn over a small bridge, onto Lesmahagow Road.

This is the B7086 towards Blackwood / Kirkmuirhill / Lesmahagow.

Follow this road out into the country for approximately 3 miles, past Sandford and along a winding road. Look out for a signpost marked Coalburn and Waterside on your right.

* Turn RIGHT at signpost to Coalburn and Waterside.

Then follow directions as above

From the South

Take the M74 North. Take exit 10 - Lesmahagow / Blackwood / Kirkmuirhill

Immediately after coming off the motorway there is a roundabout. Take the second exit signposted truckstop / lorry park / Milton Industrial Estate.

In a few hundred metres there is a T junction - turn right (away from Lesmahagow).

Travel a mile along a winding country road, which takes you to the village of Boghead. At the T junction - turn left. This road is the B7086. Travel along this road for a couple of miles.

Look out for a signpost marked Coalburn and Waterside on your left.

* Turn LEFT at signpost to Coalburn and Waterside.
