Fed up with being stuck at home? Looking for safe group activity, which is good for mental health and physical wellbeing? Look no further! Our next "Covid-secure" Taiko Course starts on Monday 26th October in Glasgow in the big hall in the Space.
Face-masks are mandatory, drums spaced at 2m and with sanitised drumsticks. Do join us and experience the uplifting energy of Taiko Drumming!
"Wadaiko" - Taiko drumming - is an energetic, physical and
highly choreographed art form. Originally from Japan, with roots
going back hundreds of years and encompassing a variety of styles,
rhythms and movement, this traditional folk art is now developing
and spreading as a modern European art form.
Now is the chance for people here in Scotland to experience
a full course of this exciting discipline which is energetic &
fun & learnt alongside other taiko enthusiasts!
The Glasgow course is on Mondays 6:30 - 8:00 pm for 6 weeks
starting 2nd November, at community venue "The Space", just around
the corner from the Barrowlands.
This course is designed to be suitable for both beginners & improvers, and will take the participants step by step from the stance, to the bachi drumstick grip through to learning a performance piece. The piece for this season is Kitsune, a piece based on the uplifting and playful "shichisan" rhythm, named after the "kitsune" fox, which is a trickster & shape-shifter in Japanese traditional folklore.
