Workshops for School Taiko Groups

Reaching hundreds of thousands of people through the years, Mugenkyo has been the inspiration for many taiko groups setting up around the UK. As the longest-established taiko group in the UK, Mugenkyo has seen the growth and development of a thriving taiko drumming scene, with countless new adult and school groups springing up around the country. Right now is a very exciting time in the development of the art-form of taiko in the UK.

In addition to their regular teaching work, Mugenkyo provide expert advice and special masterclasses for new taiko groups and youth players, and have taught groups as far afield as Teeside, Cheshire, Shropshire, Wiltshire, Glasgow, East Lothian, Greater Manchester, York, Fife, Buckinghamshire and London.

In addition to a thorough grounding in taiko technique and form, workshops for school taiko groups include development of performance skills, which is a particular area of expertise of Mugenkyo. The focus of the workshop can be expanding repertoire with new material, or looking at existing repertoire and performance, in order to suggest ways to improve the content & presentation.

Through emphasising team-work and co-operation, by encouraging discipline, and above all by making taiko accessible and fun, we aim to draw out the musical potential of your pupils, as well as developing focus and building confidence.
