Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers are the first and only professional touring taiko group in Europe, established in 1994.

Mugenkyo tour throughout the year, performing mainly at theatres and concert halls with a full-length two hour concert which presents taiko drumming in a modern and theatrical way with complex choreography, delicate shinobue flute, colourful costume, contemporary masked dance, as well as thunderous energetic rhythms on huge taiko drums.

Mugenkyo have taken their shows to venues all over the UK including: London Queen Elizabeth Hall, Bristol Colston Hall, Nottingham Royal Concert Hall, Cambridge Corn Exchange, Swansea Grand Theatre, Glasgow Tramway, among others. In addition to concerts at theatres, Mugenkyo also perform at events and festivals throughout the UK, Europe and Japan.

Mugenkyo established the Mugen Taiko Dojo in 2002, with the goal of developing awareness and understanding about this traditional Japanese folk art. The Mugen Taiko Dojo is both for a permanent base for the group and also a place where they can conduct their growing teaching work. The Mugen Taiko Dojo also provides the space and enables an environment of creativity for Mugenkyo’s ongoing collaborations with other musicians and art-forms.
