The Dojo Drummers performance
is energetic, colourful and a highly choreographed
spectacle of powerful rhythms and explosive energy, performed in full costume.
Taiko drumming is a visual and dynamic art-form originally from Japan,
and has become hugely popular across the world. |

 |
The Dojo Drummers represent the Mugen Taiko Dojo – the
UK’s Centre for Taiko Drumming – at a wide variety of festivals,
special events and private engagements. The highly experienced set-up regularly
perform at high profile events at venues such as Birmingham NEC, London
Excel, Edinburgh EICC and Manchester G-Mex. Past performances have also
included large sporting events at Murrayfield, Twickenham & Cardiff,
and numerous outdoor festival appearances across the UK, Ireland and abroad. |
The Dojo Drummers perform primarily as a six-piece tightly choreographed
unit, but have a flexible line-up, which can be expanded to up to twelve
performers at large-scale events. The members are composed of players who
have trained intensively at the Taiko Dojo for several years, and include
several members of the renowned Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers |

The group perform a wide variety of repertoire, from traditional
pieces to modern compositions, ranging from precise and fast rhythms, to
powerful evocative beats. The performers use the full range of taiko drums
and percussion, all the highest quality instruments imported especially
from Japan. A focal point of their stage set-up is the “Gekko” drum,
a visually impressive one and a half meter diameter skin drum. The exhilarating
rhythms on the taiko drums are accompanied by the delicate shinobue bamboo
flute, and complemented by exciting martial choreography |
