10-WEEK TAIKO COURSE

There are two course options, with the earlier course aimed at beginners, and the later one for those with some experience.

Wednesdays 6:30 - 8:00 pm - Nagareboshi

This course is designed to be suitable for beginners, and will take the participants step by step from the stance, to the bachi drumstick grip through to learning a performance piece. The piece for this season is "Nagareboshi", which is based on the "gobu gobu" rhythm, one of the three main base rhythms. The piece name means "shooting star", which is the inspiration for the choreography. It is a modern composition, in which the participants can learn how to develop light & shade in their playing.

Wednesdays 8:15 - 9:45 pm - Summer Storm (Susano-o)

This course is aimed at those who have completed one, two or more of our courses, and for those who have the ambition of joining further training at the Mugen Taiko Dojo.

This is a newly written piece taught at a weekly course for the first time, with a catchy groove and a new set of solos to learn, along with the movements and voice that make up this energetic piece.

This course will enable participants to further develop the mitsu-uchi rhythm, bachi sabaki movements whilst challenging something completely new & different.

If you are new to taiko but you're unable to join the 6:30 beginner group, please do contact us, as we do allow a limited number of beginners to join in on the 8:15 course.
